👋 About SpeakUp! Kids

SpeakUp! Kids is a children's speech and word learning app designed to help toddlers and young children develop language skills through fun, interactive play with Lumi the dragon.

This Privacy Policy explains how SpeakUp! Kids handles information when you or your child uses our app. The short version: we collect nothing. No personal data, no analytics, no tracking — ever.

🔒 Information We Do NOT Collect

SpeakUp! Kids does not collect, store, transmit, or share any personal information. This includes:

• Names, email addresses, or contact information
• Device identifiers or advertising IDs
• Location data of any kind
• Voice recordings or microphone data
• Usage analytics or behavioral data
• Photos, videos, or camera data
• Cookies or tracking technologies
• Payment or financial information

📱 What Stays On Your Device

SpeakUp! Kids saves progress information locally on your device only using Apple's standard UserDefaults storage. This includes:

• Words your child has practiced
• Words your child has mastered
• Star count and progress milestones

This data never leaves your device. It is not sent to any server, cloud, or third party. It exists solely to remember your child's progress between sessions. You can reset all progress at any time from the My Stars screen.

🎤 Microphone Permission

SpeakUp! Kids requests microphone access so children can practice saying words out loud as part of the learning experience.

We do not record, store, or transmit any audio. The microphone is used only to encourage the child to speak — no audio data ever leaves the device or is processed by any system.

You can revoke microphone permission at any time in your device's Settings without affecting the rest of the app's functionality.

🚫 No Third Parties, No Ads

SpeakUp! Kids contains:

• No advertisements of any kind
• No third-party analytics SDKs (no Firebase, Mixpanel, etc.)
• No social media integrations
• No in-app purchases or payment processing
• No links to external websites within the child-facing app

We do not share any information with any third parties because we do not collect any information to share.

👨‍👩‍👧 For Parents & Guardians

We built SpeakUp! Kids as a safe, private space for children to learn. Here is what you can do as a parent:

• Review your child's progress on the My Stars screen at any time
• Reset all progress data from the My Stars screen → Reset button
• Revoke microphone access in Settings → Privacy → Microphone
• Delete the app at any time to remove all locally stored data

🔐 Data Security

Because SpeakUp! Kids does not collect or transmit any personal data, there is no data at risk of breach or unauthorized access on our end. All progress data is stored locally on your device and protected by your device's own security (Face ID, Touch ID, passcode).

📋 Changes to This Policy

If we ever update this Privacy Policy, we will post the new version here with an updated effective date. Any significant changes that affect how data is handled will be communicated through an app update notice.

We commit to never introducing data collection, advertising, or third-party tracking without providing clear notice and, where required by law, obtaining parental consent first.
